Volunteer Opportunities at The EPICENTER
“The Zone” After School Program: 3-6pm Monday-Friday
The Zone features a safe, welcoming, fun, educational environment for students in grades K–8.
Ways to help: Homework Help, Coordinate Athletic activities, Arts & Crafts, Registration, Meal Prep/Service, Teaching Special Skills, Transportation Attendant, Tutoring, Reading
When?: Can be an hour a week or every day.
Office/Facility: Weekdays & Evenings
There are a variety of opportunities to help in the office and around the building to facilitate the many activities that take place. Daytime availability is especially a great asset. Committing to a day or two per week to help in the office and work with our Operations Manager would be a tremendous blessing
Ways to help: answering phones, data input, Greeter, making calls, sending emails, room set up
Internet Cafe Host: Weekdays, 11am-2pm
We have computers available for public use on weekdays. People can come in and enjoy our facilities while getting their work done or just searching the web, similar to the Public Library, which is very active. We have free wifi available and a comfortable place to sit.
Ways to help: Pick a day and be present to facilitate computer check out/check in and to be available to assist users as needed. Having a warm & helpful presence is most important.
Child care: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30pm-8:30pm
Providing childcare during these two evenings supports other programming taking place at those times. Child care is a significant obstacle for people accessing opportunities that may be valuable to them.
Ways to help: Watching children during these evenings.
Jobs for Life: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm
Jobs for Life (JfL) teaches timeless Biblical principles concerning work and the ways those principles are applied in the marketplace. Through this training, men and women develop character and become connected to a community of support; they obtain more than just a job as they experience a life filled with confidence, self-control, coaching, learning, and faith.
Ways to help: Mentor, Facilitator
Edgewood Farmers Market: Every Thursday from 3pm -6pm
The Farmers Market has relocated to the EPICENTER parking lot! We need patrons, vendors, and assistance with set up by 3pm/closing by 6pm.
Food Give-Away and Mini Health Fair: second Friday of every month; 2-5pm
We distribute food to individuals and families in need each month. Additionally, we host a Mini Health Fair,
Ways to help: set up; separate and hand out food; host and greet attendees; hours vary between 12-6pm
