May Health Fair and Food Giveaway

The EPICENTER at Edgewood’s May Health Fair and Food Giveaway will take place on Friday, May 11th from 2-5 p.m., with food distribution beginning at 3.

During this month’s Health Fair and Food Giveaway, The EPICENTER will partner with Maryland Food Bank and Tabitha’s House and share 7,000 pounds of food with Harford County citizens in need. We will also feature a broad spectrum of resources for all community members, including:

-Free cell phones for qualifying individuals from Assurance Wireless

-Free chiropractic care from Premier Chiropractic

Birthright (support center for expectant and new parents)

Empowering Minds Resource Center (offers income-based mental health support)

Harford County Health Department Cancer Prevention Program (offers free cancer screenings to qualifying individuals)

Harford County Public Library Edgewood Branch

-Free Narcan kits and training from Harford County Health Department Local Addictions Authority (Narcan is an emergency treatment for opioid overdoses.)

University of Maryland Health Advantage (offers free and low-cost healthcare plans for senior citizens)

University of Maryland Health Partners

-The EPICENTER’s own Employment Readiness Specialist

Maryland Disabled Veteran’s Outreach Program

Maryland Legal Aid (offers free legal services for individuals in need)

-Information on TD Bank‘s “second chance banking” opportunities

Harford County WATCH Program (provides community health workers, nurses, and social workers to assist senior citizens who are having difficulty maintaining their health)

WIN Family Services

-Voter registration with the NAACP of Harford County

FREE Credit Management Workshops

What are some ways you can build, maintain, and protect your credit? Come to one of APGFCU and Harford Community Action Agency’s Credit Finesse workshops here at The EPICENTER on Thursday, April 12th. Workshop will take place from 1-2 p.m., and an identical workshop will take place from 2-3.

Come in Out of the Cold Updated Information

The EPICENTER now offers our Come in Out of the Cold shower program on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 10-12. Please see our Come in Out of the Cold Flyer for more information.

We encourage you to share our Come in Out of the Cold program with anyone you know who might benefit. Towels, toiletries, and shower shoes are provided to each and every Come in Out of the Cold guest.


NEW Parenting Training Engagement Group- Tuesdays, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Families of elementary school students: would it help to receive some encouragement from other parents? Kim Bennett-Selby, LCSW-C and School Social Worker for William Paca/Old Post Road Elementary School will offer her Parent Training Engagement Group here at The EPICENTER on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The group is designed to help you gain a sense of empowerment and control, reduce stress and anxiety, and obtain information about specific family issues in a caring and supportive environment.

Supply Donations and Volunteers Needed for Shower Program

The EPICENTER is now accepting supply donations for our shower program. We will have a donation bin in our lobby through March 25th. Donations can be made any time during our regular business hours (Tu-Fri 12-5 p.m.), during our Sunday morning worship services (9:15 & 11 a.m.), or during one of our evening activities. We are also seeking caring volunteers to help facilitate the program.
